Reducing the Electric Bill: Saving the World while Saving Money
What better incentive than saving the world while saving us some money in the process!
During the last 3 years, we have gone through certain events that have affected all countries heavily in the world in the social and economic fields. First came the pandemic caused by COVID that forced the closure of countries such as China, a pillar of the global economy, which directly affected different areas.
And as if that was not enough, then came the war between Russia and Ukraine, leading players in the food and energy sectors in the majority of the world.
All these factors, directly and indirectly, have meant an increase in energy prices, reaching record highs in some European and Latin American countries.
Tips to reduce electricity usage at home
Electricity bill price increases are not something that is in our power, at least not entirely. However, there are some actions we can take to reduce consumption at home, which will allow us to save money, and help the environment in the process.
Some of the actions we can take to reduce consumption in our homes are:
Keep on and connected only what you are going to use: When you are not in a room always keep lights off and devices unplugged. The same applies when you are going out of the house. This action is the simplest but applying it guarantees an immediate energy reduction.
Pay attention to the use of air conditioners and fans: These devices make our homes more comfortable and save our lives in warm seasons, however, they are the ones that have the greatest impact on our consumption. On cold days or cooler days, opening windows to let air into our homes will allow you to reduce their use and consumption.
Wash clothes in big batches: Laundry is an important activity in every household that uses a lot of energy, as well as a lot of water. Therefore, to reduce energy consumption, wash as many clothes as possible, instead of several washes a week with small amounts of clothes. Following this advice will not only help you save energy and money, but you will also pollute less water, a double contribution to the environment.
Take advantage of natural light: We have natural sources of energy, the most precious and useful being sunlight. If possible, open windows, and allow your home to be permeated with natural light. Substituting the use of lights and lamps at certain times of the day will allow you to reduce electricity consumption with the extra benefit of gaining D vitamins from the sun.
Do not forget to charge electronic devices: Try to always be aware of the charging process of your electronic devices, whether they are rechargeable batteries, laptops or cell phones. Leaving a device charging overnight or for long hours only contributes to an increase in the bill and a decrease in battery life. Charging your devices religiously will allow you to extend your devices and save on your bill at the end of the month.
Use multiple connection sources: These devices are a very useful tool that will allow you not only to save energy but also to protect several devices connected to the same source from voltage peaks, preventing them from being damaged. At the same time, they make your life easier since they allow you to turn off all the products at the same time when you are not going to use them.

Following these tips will not only save you money at the end of the month but also train you to use electricity efficiently, directly helping our planet.
This is because most energy, depending on the country, of course, is generated from fossil fuels.
You help the planet, helping your pocket.
Until next time, remember to stay hydrated and safe,
